Zita Lois Wente

Zita Lois Wente went to be with the Lord on March 4, 2013 at her home in Topeka, Kansas at the age of 86. She was born January 6, 1927 in Hoxie to Elmer and Elsie (Stanley) Buehler. Zita attended school in Hoxie and graduated from Hoxie High School with the class of 1944. She went on to receive her teaching certificate and taught for a few years around Hoxie in the rural schools. She was united in marriage to Raymond Wente on January 31, 1949 in Hoxie. The Lord blessed them with four children: Ray, Edward, Carol and Janet. Later in life Zita put herself through nursing school. She worked in Hays most of the time for St. Anthony’s Hospital or Canterbury Villas. She retired in 1987. Zita’s family was very important to her. She loved spending time with them all. She also enjoyed gardening, flowers and Carol’s cats. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Ray “John” Wente and wife Glenda of Salina and Edward Wente and wife Shelly of Burrton, KS; daughters, Carol Wente of Topeka and Janet Bishop and husband Doug of Overland Park; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Preceding Zita in death are her parents, Elmer and Elsie, and her husband Raymond. God gave Zita to us as a gift and as family and friends, we must return her to His care and treasure that we were a part of her life’s celebration.
