Zella F. "Sally" Novotny

Zella “Sally” (Drennan) Novotny passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2012, in the Solomon Valley Manor in Stockton at the age of 95. She was born in Phillipsburg, Kansas, March 2, 1917, to Albert and Ellen Drennan. Sally attended school in Phillipsburg and graduated from Phillipsburg High School. On June 20, 1936, she was joined in marriage to Ludvik Novotny. They then moved to Stockton. They were blessed with two sons, Daryl and Ronald. Sally took great pleasure in being a wife, mother and working mom. Over the years, she was employed at Rooks County Welfare, Rooks County Treasurer, Rooks County ASCS and Kansas Commission of Veterans Affairs from which she retired after 20 years. Sally sang in the church choir for many years. In her younger days she enjoyed dancing. She met her husband at a dance. She also enjoyed sports both as a participant and as a spectator. Sally always gave with care and perfection. She was a joy to our world. Sharing her 95th birthday this year with many friends and family brought her much happiness. Left to cherish Sally’s memories are her sons Daryl and wife Patty of Stockton and Ronald and wife Kathy of Wichita; 3 grandchildren Scott (Vicky) Novotny of Stockton, Steven Novotny of Wichita and Vicki Novotny of Wichita; 4 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granchild. Preceding Sally in death are her parents; husband, Ludvik; 2 sisters; 2 brothers; and daughter-in-law Pam.
