William C. Zink

William Charles "Bill" Zink, age 79, of Kirwin, died Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at the Phillips County Hospital in Phillipsburg. He was born September 30, 1930 southwest of Glade, Kansas on a farm known as the Morse Ranch. He was the son of William & Eva (Mason) Zink. As a child, he went to a one room school southwest of Glade. In 1948, he graduated from Phillipsburg High School. In 1952, he entered the United States Navy serving in numerous places while serving his country. Soon after the Navy, he worked for the Civil Service on US bases in France, England, and Germany. In 1963, he met Lina and they were married in England on October 26, 1966. They came back to the states to continue working for the Civil Service until October 28, 1973 when they moved back to Kansas and made their home in Kirwin, with his wife Lina and son Joseph. Later Bill moved to Wichita to obtain a job with the Boeing Company, where he worked until his illness in 2005. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Eva Zink, and one brother Leon. Survivors include his wife Lina of the home; one son Joseph of Ellsworth; t grandsons Michael and Todd; one brother Leonard of Glade, Kansas; one sister Jeannine Goertz and husband Bob of Hutchinson, Kansas; one niece Renee Gates of Manhattan, Kansas and nephews Jim Goertz, Darren Goertz, Chris Goertz, and Jason Goertz of all of Hutchinson. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 22, 2010 at the St. Thomas Cemetery in Stockton with Father Galen Long as Celebrant. Visitation will be from 5-8 Friday and from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Phillips County Hospital and may be sent in care of the Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home, 723 N. First, Stockton, Kansas 67669.
