William “Bill” D. Minium, of Quinter, Kansas, recently of Hoxie, Kansas, was born to Lee and Lucille (Transue) Minium on December 27, 1929, on the family farm in Rural Sheridan County where he spent most of his life. He died Saturday, November 28, 2015, at the Gove County Medical Center surrounded by his family. Bill attended school in Studley and Morland before entering the United States Marine Corp, January, 1952. He was discharged in 1954. Bill and Margie were married January 24, 1957, in Morland, Kansas. They were married forty-seven years. They had one son Raymond who was welcomed home by three sisters, Vicki, Kay, and Janet. Bill spent his life as a Farmer and Rancher. His main focus was his farm operation. Everyone who worked for him knew you didn’t dare leave a skip in the summer fallow. He also raised Angus cattle. Bill loved hunting coyotes, a hobby he enjoyed from 1948 through the rest of his life. Bill moved from his home in Hoxie to the Independent Living Facility at Gove County Medical Center in 2013. While there, he developed a close network of friends. Bill is survived by his son, Raymond “Butch” Minium and wife Lisa of Hoxie, Kansas; daughters, Vicki Wagoner and husband Melvin of Lenexa, Kansas, Kay Shafer and husband Steve of Beaver City, Nebraska, and Janet Johnston and companion Bill Seeney of Wichita, Kansas; a sister, Ramona Landers of Wakeeney, Kansas; seven (7) grandchilcren and ten (10) great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie; parents, Lee and Lucille Minium; and a sister, Phyllis Olson. Funeral Services will be held at the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, on Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at 1:30 P.M., with Stan Smith officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Hoxie City Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 1, 2015, from 1:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., and family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 6:30 P.M., at the Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Gove County Medical Center and sent to Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home, P.O. Box 987, Hoxie, Kansas 67740.
