Virginia L Doughty

Virginia Doughty passed away Friday, May 24, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Society in Hays, Kansas at the age of 79. She was born on August 20, 1933 to Durwood and Lola (Brown) Wallis in Hill City, Kansas. Virginia attended school in Hill City and graduated from Webster High School with the class of 1952. She was united in marriage to Harry Doughty on January 1, 1953. They were blessed with four daughters, Kathy, Kristy, Kelly, and Kenya. She enjoyed raising her wonderful family. Virginia was employed by Rooks County for twenty- five years working as the Clerk of the District Court. She happily retired on February 17, 1995. In 2006, Virginia and Harry moved to Hays to be closer to family. Virginia was very involved with Girl Scouts and the Rooks County 4-H in her earlier years. She was a member of the Kansas State Clerk’s Association and life member of the Stockton V.F.W. Auxiliary. She was a faithful member of the Stockton Christian Church and later the Hays Christian Church, involving herself with Sunday School, Bible School and the ladies’ groups. Virginia will be missed by her husband, Harry of the home; daughters, Kathy Ubert and husband Jerry of Hays, Kristy Newton and husband Craig of Decatur, Texas, Kelly Arpin and husband Dan of Wichita, and Kenya Bright and husband Carlos of Madison, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Kevin Ubert, Keith Ubert, Jamie Pena (Mark), Tyler Newton (Jennifer), Jennifer Thornton (Dirk), Joshua Arpin, Sarah Arpin, Brock Bright, and Kenzie Bright; great-grandchildren, Kynlie Ubert, Justice Pena, Autumn Newton, and Kinslee Thornton; brothers, John Acheson and wife Betty of Salina, Ray Acheson and wife Donna of Salina, Mike Acheson and wife Pearl of Alma, Kansas; sisters, Cecelia Spencer of Jerome, Idaho, and Agnes Stephen of Bogue. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Durwood Wallis and Lola Wallis Acheson; and brother, Richard Wallis. Virginia’s precious memories will live on forever and bring comfort to the hearts of her family and friends.
