Vera L. Pejsha, 92, passed away June 25, 2015 at the Ellsworth County Medical Center in Ellsworth, Kansas. She was born October 25, 1922 on the family farm in Russell County, the daughter of Reinhardt and Mollie (Neuvert) Herbel. She grew up in the Russell/Lucas area and attended local schools. On October 25, 1941 she was united in marriage to Otis R. Pejsha in Alma, Kansas. This union was blessed with four children; Gary, Stephen, Robbin, and Shelly. Together they made their home on the family farm in Lincoln County until retirement in 1984 when they moved to Wilson, Kansas. She worked as a cook for the Wilson Nursing Center in Wilson. Vera was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, a proud life member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary #6240 in Russell, Kansas, and a member of the Wilson Legion Auxiliary. She volunteered many hours of her time and talent to the Wilson Senior Center serving as a Council Member and substitute Manager. Left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Shelly Sebesta and husband, Duane of Wilson, Kansas, sons Gary Pejsha and wife Laura of Nevada, Iowa, Robbin Pejsha of Salina, Kansas; sister Molly Easter of Shawnee, Kansas; four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death her husband, son Stephen, three brothers, and six sisters.
