Ted Cooper

October 30, 1925 — April 5, 2015

Ted Cooper went to meet his Lord on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015, at the Sheridan County Health Complex Long Term Care at the age of 89. He was born October 30, 1925, at the family homestead in Sheridan County, to Roy and Thelma (Suffecool) Cooper. He attended Hoxie Grade School and graduated from Sheridan Community High School with the class of 1943. On a chance meeting in Kansas City in early 1948, Ted met Kathleen Walden. They courted for a few months and were united in marriage on September 5, 1948, at the Presbyterian Church of Hoxie, Kansas. Ted and Kathleen were married for sixty-four years. Ted was a man of strong faith and was very active in the church. He taught Sunday School, served as an Elder and was a member of the Presbyterian Men’s Group. Ted enjoyed doing many things including being a pilot and flying. He loved to farm and had a deep appreciation for being a true steward of the land. He also liked fishing, playing the piano and saxophone, and traveling. Ted and Kathleen traveled to all fifty states, Australia, South America, New Zeland, and other countries. Ted is survived by his sons, Dean Cooper and wife Della of Omaha, NE, Craig Cooper and wife Suzanne of Hoxie, Kent Cooper of Minneapolis, MN, and Kevin Cooper and wife Melanie of Hoxie; sister, Irene Follis and husband Doren of Hoxie; grandchildren, Ginna Armstrong, Bruce Cooper, Bradley Cooper, David Cooper, Lucinda Schoenthaler, Andrew Cooper, Scott, Cooper, Rebecca Lusk, Sonya Rooney, Jaime McMillan, Jesse Cooper, and Justin Cooper; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents Roy and Thelma Cooper, wife Kathleen, and grandson Cody Cooper. Ted leaves a legacy of love for God, family, friends and neighbors. He fought the good fight, he finished the race, and he kept the faith. He will be greatly missed until the day we join him around the throne of glory where our joy together shall never end.
