Tamara “Tammi” Karlene Prewitt

Tamara “Tammi” Karlene Prewitt, 64, of Russell, Kansas, passed away on January 24, 2025, at Redbud Village in Plainville. She was born on November 3, 1960, to Earl Boyd and Treva Charlene (Kilts) Purk in Wichita, Kansas.

Tammi grew up in Belle Plaine, Kansas where she graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1978. After high school, she began helping at her family's restaurant, “Purkolater” in Wellington, Kansas. She later transitioned into a full-time homemaker, a role she cherished above all, especially as a loving mother to her two sons.

Tammi really enjoyed driving high performance vehicles, and was a lifelong die hard Dallas Cowboys fan. She also had a deep love for horses, spending time riding and caring for them. Tammi’s zest for life was evident in everything she did, always finding joy in every situation, no matter how big or small. Her infectious laughter could light up any room, spreading warmth and positivity to everyone around her, and she will be forever deeply missed by all who knew her.

Tammi is survived by her sons, Dustin Prewitt and Austin (Heather) Prewitt, all of Russell, KS, Kevin (Christy) Richardson, of Derby, KS; daughter, Tia Whiteman of Winfield, KS; siblings, Donita (Dave) Shaw of Burns, KS, Craig Purk of Bentley, KS, Jackie Purk of Wellington, KS, Eric (Heather) Purk of Wichita, KS; and grandchildren, Micaela Prewitt, Jaxson Prewitt and McKenzie Prewitt.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
