Ruby Charlotte (Beckley) Rempe passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Rooks County Health Center in Plainville, Kansas at the age of 85. She was born on March 14, 1930 in Rooks County, Kansas to Leo and Arthel (Bennett) Beckley. She was united in marriage to Louis Herman Rempe on April 5, 1948 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville, Kansas. They were blessed with 11 children. The oldest of eight children, Ruby attended school in Park City, Colorado; Oatman, Arizona; Reeder School, north of Plainville, Kansas; and Plainville Grade School. She graduated from Plainville High School and went on to attend Cloud County Community College in Concordia, Kansas with credits from Colby Community College and Fort Hays State University. Ruby owned and operated the Plainville Dairy Queen for ten years and worked as an LPN for St. John’s, St. Anthony Hospital, and Hadley Regional Medical Center all of Hays, Kansas. She also worked for the eventual merged facility of Hays Medical Center. Ruby was a hard working woman who was passionate about life. Highly intelligent and extremely talented, she was an avid reader, painter, weaver, and published author. She wrote stories for Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine and published over 90 copies of four different versions of her family genealogy. Ruby is survived by her children Kenny Rempe and wife Nanette of Atlanta, GA, Mike Rempe and wife Melissa of Pratt, Cecile Hammerschmidt and husband William of Plainville, Greg Rempe and wife Twila of Grand Island, NE, Linda Pfannenstiel and husband Glen of Yocemento, Steve Rempe of Plainville, Allen Rempe and wife Connie of Plainville, Kathy Beiker of Wichita, Elizabeth Hainke and husband Gary of Kensington, William Rempe and wife Stacey of Smith Center, and Barbara Dierks and husband Philip of Inman; brother Ted Beckley; sister Alice Ouderkirk; 29 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Leo and Arthel Beckley, husband Louis Rempe, brothers Denny, Roy, James, and Gene Beckley, and sister Geneva Bedore. Ruby was a woman of deep love and devotion to God, her family, and her friends. Although we will miss her greatly, until we see her again on the streets of glory, we rejoice with the angels of heaven as she hears the word of her Lord, “Well done, good and faithful servant! Come, let’s celebrate together!”
