Roy E. Morain was born July 5, 1952, in Stockton, KS to Henry T. and Violet I. (Lucky) Morain. He passed away Monday, January 1, 2012, in the Norton County Memorial Hospital in Norton at the age of 59. He attended school in Stockton. He worked for several farmers in his younger years. He married Louisa (Blakesley) Caudill on December 20, 1969 in the First Southern Baptist Church in Stockton, Kansas. They were married 30 years before divorcing in 1999. Roy served in the Army from 1975 until 1978 as a Radio Teletype Operator. In 1978 Roy was honorably discharged from the Army and returned home. Upon returning home Roy worked for the Rooks County Road Department for a short time. He then started hauling cattle and grain for High Plains Trucking. Roy later worked for Tracy Thompson and Thompson Cattle Company where he hauled cattle and grain. Roy opened Morain Trucking and hauled grain and cattle for ten years until his health would not allow him to work any longer. Roy is survived by a son, Roy Bradley and wife Kandie of Plainville, Kansas; daughter, Roxanna Caudill of Topeka, Kansas; ex-wife, Louisa Morain of Stockton, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Walker, Matthew, Blake, and Stephen Caudill all of Topeka, Kansas, Alexis Oliver, Jami and Jenna Morain of Plainville, Kansas; a brother, Jonnie Morain and wife Ruth of Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Henry and Violet; and an infant brother, Thomas Morain. Services are planned Thursday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home in Stockton, KS with Reverend Daryl Sherraden officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 9am until 8pm with the family receiving friends from 6pm – 7pm at the funeral home and on Thursday from 9am until service time. Memorials are suggested to the Logan Manor or the Parkinson Foundation and may be sent in care of Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home, 723 N. First, Stockton, Kansas 67669.
