Rosena Jackson

Rosena Jackson was born October 15, 1916, in Rooks County to Edward Newton and Patsy (Todd) Hunter. She passed away Monday, January 9, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Society of Hays, KS at the age of 95. In her early years, she attended school in Stockton. On October 12, 1932, she married Alfred (Jack) Henry Jackson in Phillips County, KS. Rosena was a member of the Stockton Christian Church, the Century Club, and Swinging Wheels, Square Dancer’s. Rosena had many joys, from gardening, ceramics, square dancing, knitting, and playing cards. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. Rosena and Jack traveled for many years until his passing, after which she went on bus tours. She took care of her own yard until she was 90. Survivors include one daughter, Ruth Ann Roy and husband Kenneth of WaKeeney; four sons, Marvin Jackson of Stockton, Jerry Jackson and wife Shirlee of Great Bend, Jimmy Jackson and wife Pattie of Stockton, and Ronnie Jackson and wife Janis of Clay Center; ten grandchildren, Joyce Lawson and husband Richard, Becky Williams and husband Danny, Rick Jackson and wife Julie, Tony Jackson, Tracy Jackson and wife Lori, Terry Jackson and wife, Janet, Heather Jackson, Jason Jackson and wife Amy, Kellie Jackson, and Jenny Jackson; 21 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Preceding her in death was her husband, Alfred; her parents, Edward and Patsy, two brothers, Jess and Eldie, and one grandchild, Janice Roy. Funeral Services will be Friday, January 13, 2012 at Stockton United Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Les Ellis officiating. Burial will be in the Stockton City Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 11, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Good Samaritan Society of Hays, KS and may be sent in care of Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home, 723 N. First, Stockton, KS 67669.
