Rose Ellen Bice, passed away Monday, March 10, 2014 at Rooks County Health Center in Plainville, Kansas at the age of 82. She was born September 29, 1931 to William and Stella Mae (Harris) Shaw in Trinidad, Colorado. Rose graduated from Trinidad High School with the Class of 1949. On October 17, 1949 she married Auldin Bice in New Mexico. To this union were born two sons, Robert and William; and four daughters, Karen, Susan, Nancy, and Elizabeth. Rose was a hardworking and loving woman. She helped around the farm, and of course raised a family. While no stranger to hard work, Rose also knew how to have fun. She absolutely loved square dancing, and not just the dancing, but the fun, the laughter, and being with her friends. Rose is survived by her son Robert “Bob” Bice and wife Lynn of Plainville; daughters, Karen Ellis and husband Ken of Elkhart, Susan Augustine and husband Bruce of Plainville, Nancy Kreutzer and husband Cliff of Ellis, and Elizabeth Miller and husband George; 22 Grandchildren, 28 Great-Grandchildren, and 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Stella Shaw, her husband Auldin, and her son William. Rose loved, and lived, and danced with each of us in her own special way. Now the Great Caller in the sky has sounded the final figure until we are all together again: “It’s right by right by left you go, You can’t go to heaven if you carry on so, So it’s home little gal and do-si-do, Promenade up, come on, let’s go.” Rose was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
