Ronald Duane Wise

August 6, 1949 — June 7, 2018

Ronald Duane “Ron” Wise passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at his home in Plainville, Kansas at the age of 68. He was born on August 6, 1949 at Hadley Memorial Hospital in Hays, Kansas to the late Donald E. and Maxine Marie (Gibson) Wise. In April 1970 he enlisted in the United States Army where he served until his honorable discharge from Fort Dix in January of 1972. While serving he completed his studies and received his high school GED. He went on to attend North Central Kansas Area Vocational-Technical School from 1967–1968 in Beloit, Kansas and earned a degree in welding. On October 6, 1979 he was united in marriage to Mary Beth Hargrave at the United Methodist Church in Plainville. They were blessed with three sons, Luke, Scott, and Josh. Ronnie was a lot of different things to a lot of different people. A husband, father, grandpa, brother, friend, and so much more. While everyone who knew him was quick to see his joy for life and sense of humor, those closest to Ronnie knew him for his tremendous heart and the love he carried for his family. As we celebrate the passing of Ron we realize that he leaves behind much more than just family members, but a legacy that will transcend generations to come. A legacy of hard work and humility. Ron spent the majority of his life working in the oilfield and was blessed to finish off his career working with a great group of guys at Steve’s Electric. After which, he was able to achieve his life-long dream and become a full time, self-proclaimed, “professional” fisherman. Ron is survived by his wife Mary Beth Wise of the home in Plainville; sons Pastor Luke Wise and wife Amanda of Arkansas City, Scott Wise and wife Danelle of Plainville, and Josh Wise and wife Ashley of Plainville; brother Robert “Bob” Wise and wife Kathy of Plainville; mother-in-law Eulalie “Tiny” Hargrave of Plainville; sister-in-law Tonya Wise of Ellsworth; uncle Ken and aunt Ilene Satterfield of Tulsa, OK; and grandchildren Hadassah, Isabelle, Lillyana, Laiken, and Harper Wise; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Maxine Wise, father-in-law Al Hargrave, and brother Dennis Wise. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at the United Methodist Church in Plainville. Burial will follow in the Plainville City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00pm, with family receiving friends, Monday at the funeral home, and from 9:30 until service time on Tuesday at the church.
