Ronald Blake “Ronnie” Strutt, 83, passed away on December 13, 2025, in Stockton, KS.
Ronnie was born on December 14, 1941, in Beloit, Kansas, to John Baptist and Esther Elizabeth (Worden) Strutt. He grew up in Rooks County and graduated from Woodston High School in 1960. After graduation, Ronnie was offered a full scholarship to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) but chose instead to remain close to home to help his father on the family farm.
On July 16, 1960, Ronnie was united in marriage to Twila Keas. From this union came three children: Aronda Strutt of Stockton, Kansas; Kris Strutt of Wichita, Kansas; and Clint Strutt (Angela) of San Antonio, Texas. Ronnie later married Mary Brookhouser. They raised seven children.
In his younger years, Ronnie took pleasure farming and custom cutting alongside his uncles. Ronnie dedicated many years to the Rooks County Highway Department, where he earned a reputation for his dependable nature and strong work ethic. Following his retirement, he remained active by farming and working at Krob’s Liquor Store. He always enjoyed a good visit with his family or neighbors.
As a young man, Ronnie found joy in fishing, playing with his cousins, and spending time outdoors. Though not an avid hunter himself, he looked forward each year to the annual visit from those he fondly called his “Oklahoma pheasant hunters.” After moving into town, Ronnie delighted in taking long drives, feeding the birds and squirrels, and watching Stockton High School football practices and games. He especially enjoyed visiting with his own personal pastor, Chelsey Foerster.
Ronnie was a familiar face at Saturday morning coffee in Woodston and the Stockton Senior Center, where he loved playing Bingo. He faithfully attended Bible study. Ronnie believed that God placed him on this earth to care for others. He lived out that belief every day through his kindness, humility, and quiet acts of service.
In addition to those mentioned above, Ronnie is survived by his granddaughter Blakemarie Martinez (Josiah) of Homestead, Florida; his nephew Duke Lorson of Great Bend, KS; his nieces Pamela Coleman (Jeff Dinkel) of Great Bend KS, and Virginia McCartney (Al) of Holyrood, Kansas. He is also survived by his step-children Raymond Brookhouser of Plainville, KS, Corinna (Mark) Sander of Edgerton, KS, Gene (Rosanna) of Florida, Terry (Rehana) of Topeka, KS, Randy Brookhouser, Maria (Justin) Plush of Topeka, KS and June Brookhouser of Topeka, KS; and many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Esther Strutt; brother, Johnny Strutt; sister, Inez Lorson; nephew, Doug Lorson; and grandchildren, Eden Strutt and Austin Brookhouser.
