Ronald C. Carmicheal passed away Thursday, February 6, 2014 peacefully in his sleep at home in Grand Junction, CO at the age of 81. He was born July 7, 1932 to Ralph & Maude (Winters) Carmicheal at the family home in Plainville, KS. Ronald graduated from Plainville High School in 1950 where he participated in sports. He served in the Army from 1953-1955 and 1961-1962. Ronald and Shirley Mae Morris were married in Plainville on December 25, 1954 and had three children, Debra, Kimberlee, and Chris. Ronald worked for many years in his father's businesses as well as starting his own electrical business. He later became a Master Electrician in Colorado spending his career in construction. Ronald was a 60 year Master Mason, 50 year Eastern Star, Scottish Rite, York Rite, and an Isis Shriner, participating in the Grand Junction Corvette unit. He was also a member of the American Legion, Elks, Eagles and Moose organizations. He loved spending time with his family and was especially delighted by the arrival of five great-grandchildren. Ronald is survived by his daughters Debra Smith of Grand Junction, CO and Kimberlee Black and husband, Jerry of Clovis, CA; 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; sisters Joy Glick of Hays, KS and Regna Powell of Sun City West, AZ; brother Robert Carmicheal and wife Erma of Plainville, KS; sister-in-law Joan Carmicheal of Jetmore, KS; and numerous nieces, nephews and their children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph & Maude Carmicheal; wife Shirley, son Chris, and brothers Norman and Richard. Reception: Plainville United Methodist Church
