Robert James "Bob" Monroe, 70, passed away Thursday, February 19 at "Holiday Resorts Nursing Center" in Emporia, Kansas. Bob was born April 12, 1944 at Ellis, Kansas to Vandi and Myrtle (Reichard) Monroe. Bob's early years were spent working at "Red's Chicken House, a local favorite in Russell, when he wasn't busy at the "Sky-Vue Drive in Theater or "Dream Theater", both of them being favorites among the young people in Russell. Later in his life he spent as an "Oil field pumper" for "Ivanholt" Oil Company. When he wasn't busy in the oil field, He occupied his time as a bouncer at "Kimbo" dance Pavillion, located in rural Ellinwood, Kansas. Left to mourn Bob's passing are his daughter Melissa Monroe a son Bobby Lee Monroe (Tresa), 10 Grandchildren: Jacob, Trinia, April, Abagail, Maria, Serepta, Joseph, Sierra, Kelsey and Cayden.Sister Wanda Lee Gano of Hill City, Kansas, Brother Leroy of McPherson and Half-Brothers Lonnie Super of Russell and Dean Wells of Highlands, Texas. Memorial Services are planned for 1:00 pm Saturday, February 28 at Foster Mortuary Chapel, 610 24th Street, Wilson, Kansas. Inurnment will follow at Russell City Cemetery, Located on East Highway 40, Russell, Kansas. Online condolences may be left at fostermortuary.com.
