Robert John “Bob” Giebler passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at his home in Plainville, Kansas. He was born October 20, 1950 to John H. and Rita Mae (Fisher) Giebler in Hays, Kansas. Bob graduated from St. Joseph Military Academy in Hays with the Class of 1969. He was united in marriage to Gladys K. Sander on March 3, 1973 in Victoria, Kansas. To this union was born a daughter, Jennie. They later separated. Bob worked as a Pipeline Gauger for Kaw Pipeline Company until his medical retirement in 1992. Prior to his retirement he was an avid golfer, bowler, hunter, enjoyed all types of sports, and loved to dance. He supported and attended Fort Hays State University Athletics, Larks Baseball, and enjoyed playing Bingo. Bob was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville and was a Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus Plainville Council. He volunteered for any project or event that the Knights were supporting. He was indeed a true brother. Bob is survived by his daughter Jennifer Grayek and husband Joshua of Quantico, VA; grandchildren Trevin and Tatum Grayek; brothers Harold Giebler and wife Sharon of Hays, and Terry Giebler and wife Rose Marie of San Diego, CA; sister Zita Klaus and husband Curt of Hays; three nieces, four great-nephews and two great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Rita, and a sister Mary. Bob certainly had the ability to be charming with a bit of his own unique character, and it was those qualities that gave him a heart of gold, a willingness to serve, and a love for friends and family that was deep and abiding, most especially for his grandchildren. He epitomized the truth that a grandfather is someone who has silver in his hair and gold in his heart.
