Robert Paul Davis

November 3, 1954 — October 9, 2024

Robert Paul Davis, 69, passed away on October 9, 2024, at his home in Plainville, Kansas. He was born on November 3, 1954, to Robert Russell and Myrtle Hilda (Kibler) Davis in Hialeah, Florida. His twin brother, Russell Paul Davis died shortly after birth. Robert married Jill J. Walz on September 10, 2015.

Robert grew up in Fremont, California and graduated from American High School in 1972. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army serving as a Tank Armor Crewman, serving in Germany, and received an honorable discharge in 1978. He earned an Associates of Science degree from the College of San Mateo, California. A distinguished accomplishment was earning his A&P (Airframe and Powerplant) license from the FAA. He worked as a mechanic and storekeeper for United Airlines for 19 years.

He then worked as a mail handler for the US Postal Service in Denver, Colorado for 9 years. After retirement, Robert chose to work for Cardinal Health where he drove nuclear medicine to hospitals and clinics for patients undergoing radiation treatments.

Bob was proud to be a 40+ year Master Mason, holding membership in Golden Rule Lodge #479 in San Jose, California. He enjoyed being a part of El Jebel Shrine in Denver, Colorado where he was on the Dune Buggy Patrol and bowling league and loved dressing up as a clown for the Shriner’s Circus. Bob loved to laugh and make other people happy! He served as an associate Bethel Guardian of Job’s Daughter’s and was Rainbow Dad for San Jose Rainbow for Girls.

Scuba diving was a passion and Bob loved Monterey Bay, Hawaii and diving wherever he traveled. He also enjoyed floating the Ichetucknee River in Florida, canoeing and hiking.

In Plainville, Bob joined the hospital auxiliary along with his wife Jill. He enjoyed attending community events and neighbor kids’ ballgames when possible. Peaceful country drives and going to the movies (especially animated movies) were favorite pastimes. Bob’s four fur babies gave him a lot of joy. His two mutts, Zoey and Abby, his sassy Calico cat Sheva and his oldest companion Max the ragdoll Siamese, offered him cuddles and kisses and enjoyed his back scratches. Bob was known for being a gentleman and having impeccable manners, which he exhibited up until his last breath, thanking each of us for everything from giving him a drink, praying for him and loving him. Bob assured us that he was right with God, and that there was grace and much more grace coming! He also shared his beautiful smile even when he could no longer speak clearly.

Robert is survived by his wife, Jill Davis. He leaves behind a son, Trevor and a daughter, Amelia of Colorado, as well as his sister, Maryann Davis of Florida, nieces and nephews Sara Barner-Rasmussen McKay, Karl Barner-Rasmussen, Daniel Davis, and Erik Barner-Rasmussen, and grandniece and grandnephews Nissa Rasmussen and Samuel and Gregory Barner-Rasmussen, and Ethan Davis. He is also dearly missed by his first wife, Delma Davis, who remained a lifelong friend.

He is preceded in death by his twin, his parents and his younger brother, Richard Alan Davis.
