Richard Gansel

Ferdinand Richard Gansel was born October 2, 1928, in Hays, Kansas, to Ferdinand (Ferd) and Virginia (Sproul) Gansel. He lived in Graham County with his parents and siblings, where he grew to manhood. He was one of six children. On September 18, 1949, he and June Maurine Radcliffe eloped to Colorado to the home of his Grandmother Hutton, where they were married – and remained happily married for nearly 65 years from that day. To this union two children were born: Richard Wayne (Dick) of Hill City; and Julie Ann of Lawrence. A retired retail lumberman, farmer and long-time resident of Hill City, Richard passed away Sunday, May 27, 2018 at the Nicol Home in Glasco, Kansas. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hill City, Kansas. Richard is survived by his two children: Dick and his wife, Dody, and their two boys, Phillip and Patrick, all of Hill City; Julie of Lawrence, Kansas, and her two children: Nicki, and her husband, Brock Ebert of Lindsborg, Kansas, and their four children: Rylee, Addison, Brooklyn and Tate; and Tyler and his wife Megan of Park City, Kansas. Richard is also survived by all of his siblings: Virginia Marie Cafferty of Boise, Idaho; Jeanette Miller of Casper, Wyoming; Bert and wife Marianne Gansel of Hill City; Phyllis Ann and husband Warren Slocombe of Manhattan; and Frank (Buddy) and wife Kathy Gansel of Hill City; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends.
