Richard A. "Rick" Dreher

Richard A. “Rick” Dreher passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2013, at his home in rural Plainville at the age of 56. He was born in Plainville on October 11, 1956 to Edwin and Carolyn (Jacobs) Dreher. Rick was a graduate of Plainville High School. He was united in marriage to Kathleen Dreiling on August 26, 1978 in Plainville. They were blessed with 3 children: Kyle, Jamie and Jessica. Rick was the owner and operator of Stripper Oil Company and was a contract pumper. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and attended St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church. He enjoyed watching the Kansas City Chiefs and Fort Hays State basketball and football. He loved camping, fishing, and spending time with his grandkids. Left to cherish Rick’s memory are his parents, Eddie and Carol Dreher of Plainville; wife, Kathy of the home; son, Kyle Dreher of Hays; daughter, Jamie Grooms and husband Devin of Hays; grandchildren, Ryder and Hallie Grooms of Hays; brothers, Ed Jr. Dreher and wife JoAnn of Plainville, Frank Dreher and wife Trina of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Joe Dreher and wife Missy of Oberlin, Kansas; and sister, Carol Rozean and husband Doug of Hays. Rick was preceded in death by his daughter, Jessica Dreher and mother and father-in-law, Virgil and Hilda Dreiling. The gift of memories that surrounded Rick’s life will bring comfort, joy and laughter to those friends and family left behind.
