Richard Davis Muir was born April 27, 1932 to Floyd D. and Eva M. (Bartlett) Muir on the family farm in Rooks County Kansas. Dick passed away Thursday evening, January 19, 2012 at his home in Stockton, Kansas at the age of 79. In his early years, Dick attended rural Rooks County Schools and graduated from Stockton High School with the class of 1950. After graduating, Dick accepted a scholarship to play football at Kansas Wesleyan in Salina. After a year Dick decided he would go back to Stockton and farm. While in Salina, Dick met his beautiful wife Nancy. They were married, January 27, 1952 in Salina, Kansas. They spent many years together farming and raising their family. After 42 years on the farm, they moved to Stockton. They have enjoyed nearly sixty years of marriage. Dick loved his family and enjoyed the many years they spent together. Dick was a charter member of Rooks County Country Club, the Stockton United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge and Isis Shrine, Valley View Board, ASCS Board, USD 271 School Board, and Farmers Union Mercantile Board. Dick had numerous awards and was recognized for his farming and livestock operations. Dick is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; a daughter, Dana Fisher and husband Steve of Seattle WA; four sons, Mike Muir and wife Sherry of Ellis, Brad Muir and wife Regina of Stockton, John Muir and wife Tina of Kearney, NE, and Pat Muir and wife Tialisa of Stockton; eleven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Preceding Dick in death were his parents, Floyd and Eva Muir, and brother Jack Muir. Funeral Services are planned for 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 23, 2012 at the Stockton United Methodist with Reverend Les Ellis officiating. Burial will be in the Stockton City Cemetery with Masonic rites. Visitation will be on Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Monday 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Memorials are suggested to the Dick Muir memorial fund to be designated at a later date by the family.
