Rex Parron Curry passed away January 5, 2019 at the Redbud Village in Plainville, Kansas at the age of 85. He was born July 14, 1933 in Osborne County, Kansas to Floyd and Edna (Rogers) Curry. Rex married Darlene Thibault on June 24, 1957 at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Osborne, Kansas. To this union five children were born: Kendall, Cheryl, Dale, Mark, and Darren. Rex grew up in Osborne County, Kansas and graduated from Osborne High School in 1951. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Armed Forces and was a cook in the Army from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1955. He then married the love of his life, Darlene Thibault, and shortly after moved to Denver, Colorado for a brief period when they moved back to farm in Osborne and Smith Counties. He resided there until 1966 when they moved to Plainville. He built their home in 1975 and made it their permanent residence. Being a great mechanic, Rex worked for Farm Implement for 20 years. He then worked for S&W as a machinist for a few years until he started working for Tom’s Machine Shop as a machinist where he worked until his retirement. He was an incredibly talented fabricator and was good with metal. Along with building his home, he also built swing sets and picnic tables. The man could do anything. Rex was the definition of a great father, husband, and Christian man. He had such a bright personality, always having something fun to say, and was always going out of his way to help those that needed him. Along with his helping hand, he donated to all of the blood drives. He was an avid sportsman, never missing a Plainville sporting event. Rex also enjoyed his guns, reading books, and golf. Above all, he had a love for his family, and really enjoyed time with his grandchildren. Rex is survived by his wife, Darlene Curry; sons Kendall (Sheryl) Curry of Topeka, KS, Mark (Rhonda) Curry of Florence, KS, and Darren Curry of Salina, KS; daughter Cheryl (Chuck) Schremmer of Salina, KS; grandchildren Amber Page (Russell), Dylan LaDuke (Jessi), Erin Nordgren (Bren), Erik Curry (Shawna), Kristian Kennison (Josh), Stephanie Curry (Mario), Madeline Curry (Miles), and Madison Curry; great-grandchildren Dayton and Kylan LaDuke, Brooklyn and Hazel Kennison, Kinley, Karley, and Karsten Nordgren, Lyla and Ivy Page, Harrison Curry and Isabella Claretto.
