Raymond Harley Nech

Raymond H. Nech passed away Saturday, November 15, 2014 in Salina, Kansas at the age of 96. He was born February 10, 1918 at the family farm North of Zurich, Kansas to Wendell (Nec?) and Emma (Hrabe) Nech. He was the grandson of Joseph (Nec?) and Catherine Pulec Nech. Raymond graduated from Plainville High School with the class of 1936. He married Lucy Winters on August 26, 1942 in Plainville. To this union were born two children, Janice and Douglas. Raymond proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II in China, Burma and India. He was a member of the Salina VFW and was a salesman for Armour and Company until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wendell and Emma Nech, wife Lucy, son-in-law Jim Underwood and two sisters, Ella Novotny and Anna Gilson. Survivors include his daughter Janice Underwood of Salina; son Douglas Nech and wife Cindy of Haven; three grandchildren, Necia Bogue and husband Benjy of Lawrence, Amanda Nech of Gijon Spain and Corey Nech of Haven; and two great-grandchildren, Asher and Lily Bogue of Lawrence.
