Raymond W. "Ray" Kriley

Raymond “Ray” William Kriley passed away on February 8, 2021 at his home in Stockton, KS, at the age of 77. He was born on February 17, 1943 to Willie and Irene (Parker) Kriley at their rock home in rural Stockton. He was married to Lou Corwin on August 9, 1967 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville, KS. They were blessed with 5 children: Julie, Sherry, Daniel, Amy, and Korina. Ray grew up in the Stockton area and graduated from Stockton High School in 1961. He graduated from Fort Hays State University in 1966 with an Agricultural Business degree. He served in the United States Army Reserves for six years. Ray was a lifelong farmer and caretaker of the many animals he loved. Ray was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed hunting, driving fast cars (often paying the price), watching KU basketball (as well as any sport), playing cards with his family, going to the casino, and watching his grandkids in all their sporting events. He was determined and persistent, often overcoming many hardships through his exceptional faith and witty sense of humor. Ray was a role model not only for his children but also grandchildren through his honesty, integrity, love of the Lord, family, and country, and his dedication to maintaining his physical well-being. He was often a man of few words but had a very distinctive presence at his children’s competitions. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Lou Kriley of the home in Stockton; children, Julie (Corey) Hartner of Belleville, KS, Sherry (Michael) Reimer of Great Bend, KS, Daniel (Ginger) Kriley of Stockton, Amy (Jimmy) Moison of Ozark, MO, and Korina (Keith) Shelman of Meriden, KS; 12 grandchildren; and his “good and faithful dog”, Fancy. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Irene Kriley; brother, Robert Kriley; grandson, Noah Shelman; and nephews John Wickham and Jacob Corwin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 15, 2021, at 10:30 a.m., at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Stockton with burial to follow in the St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Vigil and Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Stockton.
