Obituary

Randy Lee “Doc” Thompson, 74, of Stockton, Kansas, passed away on January 24, 2026, at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville, Kansas.

He was born on July 16, 1951, in Belleville, Kansas, to Edgar Garland and Winifred Joyce (Howell) Thompson. Randy grew up in Belleville and lived a life defined by hard work, adventure, and helping others wherever he went.

Randy proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1968 to 1970. Following his service, he married the love of his life, Lana Blochlinger, on March 25, 1972, in Belleville, Kansas. Together they built a life rooted in devotion, resilience, and family.

After high school, Randy spent the 1970s and 1980s traveling while painting Phillips Conoco stations. He later worked at the Prairie Development Center for Disabled Adults in Atwood, Kansas. In 1988, his journey took him to the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska, where he worked offshore for ten years as a water flood operator on drilling rigs.

In 1985, Randy and Lana were blessed with their daughter, Naomi, born in Soldotna, Alaska — a long-awaited and deeply cherished gift after 13 years of hope. When Randy and Lana moved back to Kansas, they welcomed Auldin Morris and Jon Gallager into their family, and they became sons in every way that mattered. Together, Doc and Lana considered their children and grandchildren to be their greatest accomplishments and blessings in life.

Randy later settled in Hannibal, Missouri, where he owned and operated a bar known as Doc’s Place. In the 1990s, he attended MMI Harley-Davidson School in Orlando, Florida, earning a two-year degree. He went on to work in Hollywood, Maryland, alongside his brother Jack at a transmission shop and continued painting work. Randy returned to Florida to work for Disney as a journeyman, then moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, where he painted with his brother-in-law Ron. His travels continued to Loveland, Colorado, where his pattern of work, movement, and reinvention – that never-ending cycle, which was a perfect reflection of his lifelong passion for bikes and the road.

That phrase later became literal when Randy owned and operated Never Ending Cycle, a motorcycle parts and service shop — a perfect reflection of his lifelong passion for bikes and the road.

Randy was known for helping anyone who needed it, earning him the nickname “Doc.” He was a gifted mechanic, a devoted rider, and after a serious motorcycle accident, his resilience shone through when he and his friends famously rebuilt his bike together.

He was also, by all accounts, a hell of a cook. Randy owned and operated the Dog House Tavern in Plainville, Kansas, for ten years, where karaoke nights became a local favorite. Later, in Stockton, he managed and cooked at the Stockton VFW Post 8873, proudly serving fellow veterans and the community. He also owned an engraving shop in Stockton, specializing in laser-engraved tags and bells.

Randy was a lifetime member of the River Riders MC of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, and treasured the brotherhood that came with it.

Randy is survived by his wife, Lana Blochlinger Thompson; daughter, Naomi Thompson of Stockton; sons, Auldin (Jessie) Morris of Plainville and Jon (Vickie) Gallager of Liberty, MO; brothers, Jerry (Hope) Thompson of Soldotna, AK and Jody “Jay” (Dana) Thompson of Loveland, CO; sisters, Kreta Thompson of Kenai, AK, Marilyn (Eddie) Tamerius of Hannibal, MO, and Paula Bureman of Sevierville, TN; sisters-in-law, Sammie of Afton, MO, Karen (Robert) Nutsch of Norway, KS, Laura (Artie) Muhlenforth of Orlando, Fl, and Deanna (Jeff) Kymer of Concordia, KS; brothers-in-law, Ron (Gloria) Blochlinger of Kingman, AZ, Robert (Analyn) Blochlinger of Concordia, KS, Dennis (Kristin) Blochlinger of Liberty, MO, and Tony (Robin) Blochlinger of Kansas City, MO; mother-in-law, Mary Blochlinger of Concordia, KS; three grandchildren, Caydance Carter, Brynn Earl, and Tanner Inglesbee; a multitude of nieces, nephews, and friends worldwide along with Brian Hoober of Concordia, KS, a friend the family calls “brother from another mother”; and his River Riders Brothers and their families.
