Remembering… Preston “Red” Emery Anderson passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville, Kansas at the age of 89. He was born on April 11, 1925 in Beverly, Kansas to August and Minnie (Minnqueot) Anderson. During a road trip to Colorado together, he and Geraldine Sims were united in marriage in 1953. They were blessed with three children, Kathryn, David, and Patricia. Red was a hard working adventurous man. He was a 50 year, lifetime member of Laborers’ International Union of North America and his work in large concrete construction took him all across the United States. He loved to travel with his family and see everything there was to see along the way, including every lighthouse on the west coast, and every old mansion on the east coast. Red and Geraldine put over 140,000 miles on their Honda Goldwing, wintered in the south for over 20 years, and always enjoyed setting up the camper at Mustang Island State Park in Texas. He was a member of the VFW Post 8871 of Plainville, the Good Sam RV Club, and the Retreads Motorcycle Club. Red is survived by his wife Geraldine of the home in Plainville; son David Anderson and wife Jill of Colby; daughters Kathryn Mock and husband Glenn of Omaha, NE, and Patricia Zahn and husband Tim of Ellis; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents August and Minnie Anderson, six brothers, and 2 sisters. Red had an insatiable pioneering spirit for fun and adventure. He taught us how to love life and live it to the fullest at every opportunity. He showed us how to care for one another as we embrace each new day together. His love, dedication, and spirit will live on in our hearts and minds for generations to come.
