Peggy Anne Brucker, 82, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2026, at Wilson Care and Rehab in Wilson, Kansas, where she had lived since 2008.
Peggy was born on June 25, 1944, in Hutchinson, Kansas, to Carlos and Margaret Spikes. At age two her family moved to Garden City, KS, where she was raised with her four siblings. She graduated from Garden City High School in 1962. Following high school, she attended cosmetology school and later enjoyed a career as a cosmetologist.
On August 23, 1982, she married Charles "Chuck" Brucker in Dodge City, Kansas. They shared many happy years together. After retiring in 2007, they moved to Wilson, Kansas to enjoy life near Wilson Lake where they had spent many weekends camping and fishing, often with Peggy’s mother, Margaret.
Peggy and Chuck enjoyed traveling with their camper. Trips ranged from Niagra Falls to the Oregon-Washington coastline. They also made many trips to Texas to visit family and to fish at Lake Texoma.
Peggy loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing with family and friends. She lived life with gusto and cherished time with her loved ones. She will be remembered for her kind heart, her adventurous spirit and the many memories she created with those closest to her.
She is survived by her husband, Chuck Brucker of Wilson; sons, Rick Deel of Hays, KS and Kevin (Shauna) Brucker of Eustace, TX; daughter, Vicki Foster of South Beach, Oregon; brother, Gary (Linda) Spikes of Garden City KS; sister, Joy (Greg) Robinson of Hutchinson, KS, sister-in-law Patricia (Roger) Hollander of Bellevue, NE; six grandchildren; Cory Deel, Mechelle (Justin) Niven, Allen Dale Deel, Brian (Tia) Foster, Jenny Foster, and Zack Brucker; and great-grandchildren; Dalynn Deel, Dominic Nevin and Bailie Foster.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Delta Brooks, a brother, Charles Spikes and a daughter, Karla Brucker.
Her services will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Church of the Brethren in Garden City, KS with Von Hunn officiating Interment will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. There will be no public family visitation.
