Paul G. Winckler

Paul G. Winckler, 84, passed away Friday, July 10, 2020 at the Ellsworth County Medical Center in Ellsworth, KS. He was born on January 13, 1936 to Rev. Albert V. and Ruth (Heidemann) Winckler in rural Tampa, KS. Paul graduated high school from St. Johns Academy in Winfield, KS. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Rae Peterka on September 1, 1957 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Sylvan Grove, KS. Paul was a farmer and stockman his entire life and served as DHIA tester for 12 years. He was very active in church and his community and held several church offices. Paul was also a member of Economic Development of Lincoln County; and was instrumental in getting the wind farms in Lincoln County. He was also a partner in Linco Commission Co. Paul’s passion for farming showed in his love for his chickens, cattle, and his two donkeys: Sammy and Sophie. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Phyllis of the home; sons, David Paul Winckler and Mark James (Liz) Winckler, all of Sylvan Grove; daughter, Diane Ruth (Nathan) Houseman of Savannah, GA; brother, James Albert (Janelle) Winckler of Lucas, KS; sisters, Mary Ruth (Garry) Chegwidden of Jefferson City, MO and Esther Ann Stinnett of Vienna, WV; three grandchildren, Michael James (Shannon) Winckler of Independence, MO, Kyle Sebastian (Tia) Houseman of Chicago, IL, and Jessica Nicole (Alex Winters) Winckler of Lincoln, KS; great-grandson, Miles Albert Winckler of Independence, MO; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Albert and Ruth Winckler; and his in-laws, James A. and Ruth A. Peterka. A funeral service will be held at 10:00AM on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Lucas, KS. Burial will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Rural Wilson, KS. Visitation will be held on Tuesday 1:00PM until 8:00PM at the funeral home with the family receiving friends from 6:00PM until 8:00PM; and on Wednesday at the church from 9:00AM until service time.
