Patrick M. Thrasher

June 15, 1949 — April 5, 2014

Patrick Morgan Thrasher passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014, at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 64. He was born June 15, 1949 to Ivan R. and Anna Edith (Beaman) Thrasher in Stockton, Kansas. Patrick graduated from Plainville High School and went on to attend Fort Hays State College for two years. He was united in marriage to Valerie Wickham. They were blessed with four children from previous marriages. Patrick had Franky and Patricia, Valerie had Derek and Jeff. Patrick entered the United States Army on October 29, 1970 and was honorably discharged on October 31, 1974. He spent his life working hard and having fun. He spent a lot of years digging Snake Root, raising sheep and goats, and eventually retired in 2010 from Dauer Implement as a lawnmower mechanic. He enjoyed “tinkering” and gardening, but above all else, Patrick loved to make music. From the French horn to the keyboard, from the guitar to the drums, there just about wasn’t any instrument he could not play. And second only to his love for family and friends, was Bouncer his dog. Patrick is survived by his wife, Valerie of the home; son, Franky Thrasher and wife Sandra of Mons, Belgium; daughter, Patricia McDonald and husband Brandon of Plainville; two step-sons, Derek Weltmer of Salina, and Jeff Weltmer of Canal Winchester, OH; sister, Kathy Higdon of Plainville: and eight grandchildren, Tristian Thrasher, Tao Thrasher, Shannon McDonald, A.J. McDonald, Marian McDonald, Danica McDonald, Brittney Poole, and Dylon Marcelle. He was preceded in death by his parents Ivan and Edith Thrasher, and two brothers, Eric and Mike Thrasher. Patrick’s passion for music wasn’t just about entertainment. His love and talent for music was a soul cleansing, heart mending, life changing inspiration for himself and all who had the privilege of hearing, singing, or playing with him. His music, his love, and his laughter will never be forgotten. He was greatly loved, and will forever be missed.
