Pamela “Pam” Jean Waggener passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2015, at the Sheridan County Health Complex Long Term Care Unit in Hoxie, Kansas at the age of 46. She was born on August 4, 1969 in Des Moines, Iowa to Loren and Mary (Bredthauer) Babcock. Her early childhood was spent in Wallace, North Loup and Newman Grove (all in Nebraska). Pam graduated from North Platte Senior High School with the Class of 1988. On August 25, 1992 Pam was united in marriage to Mike Waggener in North Platte, Nebraska. They were blessed with three children, Nicole, Kayla, and Michael and lived in North Platte until moving to Hoxie in 2007. Along with raising her family Pam began working for the Hoxie School District, USD #412, as a paraeducator. Pam had a beautiful voice and loved to sing whenever she could, even taking vocal lessons in high school. For fun, she enjoyed embroidery work, doing word searches, coloring, working crossword puzzles, or just sitting back and watching Scooby Doo or the Tom & Jerry Show. Two of her all time favorite foods were Runza Sandwiches or a King’s Cheese Frenchee. Left to cherish Pam’s memory are her husband Mike Waggener of Hoxie; daughters Nicole Waggener and partner Donovan Schrader-Brown of North Platte, and Kayla Waggener of Colby; son Michael Waggener of Hoxie; parents Loren and Mary Babcock of North Platte, NE; brother Doug Babcock and wife Monica of Lincoln, NE; sister Brenda Ott and husband Tom of Richmond, IL; grandson Kaleb Schrader-Brown; nieces Trinity and Saylor Babcock; numerous aunts and uncles; and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; Gilbert & Leone Babcock and Dean and Faye Bredthauer; an uncle, Ronald Babcock; and a niece, Destiny Babcock. Services will be held at the Hoxie Christian Church, Hoxie, Kansas on Monday, November 30, 2015, at 2:00 P.M with Pastor Carl Dumler officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Hoxie City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 29, 2015, from 1:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., with family receiving friends from 5:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home. She taught us that courage and perseverance are not always loud, that sometimes they are found in the quiet inner voice that encourages us to push on despite the odds.
