Pamela “Pam” L. Vonfeldt, 67, of Andover, Kansas, and formerly of Plainville, Kansas, passed away on October 2, 2026, at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita, Kansas. She was born on July 23, 1959, in Hays, Kansas, to H. Wayne and B. Lynn (Amos) Carmichael. On December 29, 1984, she married Alan F. Vonfeldt in Plainville, Kansas.
Pam grew up in Plainville and graduated from Plainville High School. She continued her education at Fort Hays State University. Throughout the years, she worked as a bank teller, teacher’s aide, and substitute teacher, while also devoting much of her life to caring for her home and family.
Horses held a special place in Pam’s heart. A member of the American Paint Horse Association, she loved riding, training, and caring for horses and appreciated the connection and companionship they brought to her life. Her love for animals extended far beyond horses. Pam had a soft heart for any animal in need and was known to bring home strays with every intention of finding their owner or a new home. More often than not, however, those animals simply became part of the family.
Pam also enjoyed reading, photography, baking and cooking, and spending time in her garden. Whether she was caring for an animal, working with a horse, tending to her plants, or preparing something in the kitchen, she found happiness in the simple things she loved and in caring for those around her.
Pam is survived by her husband, Alan Vonfeldt; her parents, Wayne and Lynn Carmichael; and her sister, Jana (Rick) Nyland of Phillipsburg, Kansas; nieces, Katie & Cody Rehmer, Jessie Scharping and Leah Nyland.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Doug Carmichael; her grandparents, Delmar and Virgie “Birdie” Carmichael and Doralynn “Mimi” and Bob Amos; her uncle, Don Amos; and her cousin, Matthew Amos.
A funeral service will be held on October 9, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Plainville United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the Plainville Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home in Plainville.
Memorials are suggested to organizations supporting therapeutic horseback riding and animal rescue, with specific organizations to be determined by the donor and may be sent to Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, 320 SW 2nd Street, Plainville, KS 67663.
