Oscar Ward Johnston, 90, passed away on June 4, 2014. Ward was born in Logan Kansas to Oscar and Abigail Johnston and grew up in Stockton, Kansas. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army in the Philippines during WWII and returned home to marry Wanda June Kenworthy. They raised two daughters in Pueblo, Colorado and Ward retired as a printer for the Pueblo Chieftain. Many Chieftain readers will remember his strong pro Democrat comments to the Tell It to The Chieftain column. In retirement he enjoyed fishing, working on his Buick, raising tomatoes and trying in vain to discipline his Pomeranians. He was fortunate to have many wonderful neighbors. Ward was preceded in death by all of his siblings, his daughter Diana and his wife June. He is survived by his daughter Ronna of Windsor, Colorado, grandsons John and Charles Fisher of Arizona and great granddaughter Connie Fisher of Arizona. His strength and humor added much to the world and he will be greatly missed.
