Orval “Henry” Burris, 83, of Hoxie, died Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Sheridan County Health Complex Long Term Care Unit in Hoxie, Kansas. He was born May 27, 1931, in Grainfield, Kansas to William Burris and Pearl (Dwinell) Burris. Henry married Frances Schoenberger on January 12, 1961, in Oakley, Kansas. Henry was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church of Studley, Kansas and later attended the Christian Fellowship Church in Hoxie. When living in Gove, Kansas he attended the Gove Bible Baptist Church. The most important things in life were family and dancing. Henry loved doing things for others. He was known for giving anything he had to anyone that needed it, and it was something they could use. Monetary things weren’t important, all he valued was family gatherings and getting to go to any dance to waltz or polka. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, William and Pearl Burris; wife, Francis Schoenberger passed away on September 17, 1997; one sister, Teresa Bohall of Monument, KS; two brothers, Edwin “Vic” Burris of Oakley, KS and Glenn Burris of Grainfield, KS; and grandson James Thompson. Henry is survived by two daughters, Wanda Russell and husband Loyd of Hoxie, and Norma Thompson and husband Rick of Eckley, CO; three sons, Ricky Burris and wife Christy of Hill City, Robert Burris and wife Yvonne of Wichita, and Jerry Burris and wife Jamie of Hoxie; one brother Vernon “Les” Burris and wife Marge of Rolla, MO; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
