Norman Mock

October 13, 1921 — March 4, 2013

Norman Mock passed away Monday, March 4, 2013 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas at the age of 91. He was born in Plainville, Kansas October 13, 1921 to Albert and Charlotte (Stein) Mock. Norman was the oldest of six children. Norman was united in marriage to his first wife Dixie Lee Warren May 7, 1946. They were blessed with three children: Jerry, Stephanie and Gaye Lee. Dixie passed away in 1978. Norman then married Vera Herrman September 28, 1979 in Hays, Kansas, and he gained a step-daughter, Terry Ann McConnaughy. Norman graduated from Plainville High School. He was a lifetime member of the VFW #8871 – Reeder, Westhusin, Dinkel. He attended St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Fishing was Norman’s favorite pastime. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends every Saturday night. He also enjoyed coyote hunting, bingo, dancing and loved bowling. He once bowled 4 games of 299 and bowled a 300 at the age of 75. Left to cherish Norman’s memories is his wife of the home; son, Jerry Mock (Beverly) of Monticello, WI; daughter, Stephanie Vohs (Larry) of Plainville; step-daughter, Terry Ann McConnaughy of Wichita; brothers, Jack (Betty) and Thomas “Tom” (Madge) of Tuscon, AZ; sisters, Bernice Matson of Torrence, CA, Charlene Meistrell of Plainville and Judy Armstrong (Frank) of Tuston, CA; son-in-law, John Wessel of Plainville; sisters-in-law, Alfreda Dinges (Gilbert) of Schoenchen, Marian Ann Randan of Liebenthal and Gloria Herrman of LaCrosse; 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Preceding Norman in death are his parents Albert and Charlotte, first wife Dixie and daughter Gaye Lee Wessel. Christ called the fishermen to follow Him. Today we can take comfort in knowing Norman has taken his place with the apostles. Cemetery: Private family inurnment to be held at a later date.
