Mass of Christian Burial for Norman A. Becker, age 78, of Plainville, will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville with Father James Grennan as Celebrant. Mr. Becker passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at the Redbud Village in Plainville. He was born August 17, 1932 near Plainville the son of Bernhard and Pauline (Adam) Becker. Norman was a farmer, worked for C.O. Mammal’s Grocery Store, and then worked for the City of Plainville. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 1857 all in Plainville. Norman loved farming and after his retirement enjoyed tinkering in his work shop. Norman married Margery Brungardt on June 7, 1958 in Gorham, Kansas. Survivors include his daughter Pam and husband Rob Anderson of Salina; sons Keith and wife Amy of Plainville, Mark & wife Denise of Plainville, Ken & wife Vicki of Plainville; brothers Louis Becker of Plainville, Alfred Becker of Plainville; sister Hilda Dreiling of Plainville; longtime companion Nancy Davis of Plainville; and 7 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Margery, parents Bernhard and Pauline, infant brother Leland; sisters Bonnie Bollig, Lorene Rempe, and Neola Wasinger. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 Thursday, 9- 5 Friday at the Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel. A Ladies Guild Rosary will be 3:00 p.m. Friday at the chapel. Visitation will continue from 6:30 – 8 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a Parish Vigil Service followed by a Knight of Columbus Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church or the Sacred Heart School and may be sent in care of the Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel, 409 S. Cochran, Plainville, Kansas 67663. Condolences may be sent to the family on our send you condolences link.
