Michelle Elizabeth Burlison

September 13, 1968 — May 28, 2015

Remembering... Michelle Elizabeth (Wood) Burlison passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 46. She was born on September 13, 1968 in Cleveland, Ohio. She grew up in Plainville, Kansas and graduated from Plainville High School with the Class of 1986. She went on to receive her Associates Degree from Cloud County Community College in Concordia, Kansas. On February 16, 2002 she was united in marriage to Aaron Burlison at Calvary United Methodist Church in Wichita. Together they raised three children, Katelyn, Alexa, and Nicholas. Michelle worked as a Group Consultant for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas. A hard working and fun loving woman, she always said of herself, “I’m a planner and a doer” and indeed she was. No matter how big or small the occasion to others, you could count on Michelle to make everything a Big Deal, from birthdays and anniversaries to anything else she thought was special and should be celebrated. A lover of people and passionate about life, Michelle embraced every moment and lived it to the fullest. She was a loving caring woman, with the biggest heart, who would do anything for anybody at any time, and all with a laugh and smile that set hearts aglow all around her. She loved to travel, she loved her music, and she loved her friends, but the greatest love of all was her children and family. Michelle is survived by her husband Aaron Burlison of Wichita; son Nicholas Burlison of Wichita; daughters Katelyn Burlison and fianc? Christian Scarberry of Big Spring, TX, and Alexa Burlison of Wichita; parents Dennis and Kathy Hamel of Plainville; brothers Kraig Hamel and wife Jolene of Fleming Island, FL, Scott Hamel and wife Christina of Stockton, Kyle Hamel and wife Terri of Gilbert, AZ, Shayne Hamel and wife Tiffany of Plant City, FL, David Wood and wife Monica of Topeka, and Mark Hamel of Plainville; sisters Kim Weigel and husband Terry of Hays, and Dawn Sharp and husband Russell of Edmond, OK; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her brother Kelly Hamel. Michelle lived every day of her life selflessly, caring more about others than she did herself. In the end, even her eyes were donated to give sight to a fortunate person, but she would have had it no other way. By her wonderful and amazing example she showed us how to live, love, and cherish what was most important, one another. Memorials are suggested in lieu of flowers to the Michelle Burlison Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, 320 SW 2nd, Plainville, KS 67663. Reception: Knights of Columbus Hall
