Michael Allen Birmingham

February 22, 1957 — August 6, 2015

Michael Allen Birmingham passed away Thursday, August 6, 2015 at his residence in Hoxie, Kansas at the age of 58. He was born to Raymond and Flossie (Isgriggs) Birmingham on February 22, 1957 in Washington, Missouri. From the age of three he was raised by his mother Flossie and step-father Robert “Bud” Hawkins. He attended the Saint Clair, Missouri schools and graduated from St. Clair High School with the Class of 1975. After graduation, he joined the United States Navy, proudly serving his country from 1975 to 1981. On May 19, 1984 Michael took Anna Powell’s hand in marriage at the First Baptist Church in Saint Clair. They spent thirty-one years together and were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Shakara and Samantha. Michael worked for Burd & Fletcher Company of Independence, Missouri in the Carton Division as a press operator. He was a hardworking man who was dedicated to taking care of his family, especially his grandchildren who always held a very special place in his heart. Indeed, spending time with them was his favorite hobby. He also enjoyed fishing, target shooting, and had a passion for NASCAR. He never wanted to miss a race. Michael is survived by his wife Anna of the home; daughters Shakara Bray and husband Larry of Hoxie, and Samantha Birmingham and boyfriend Kristopher Bray of Hoxie; grandchildren Brooke Bray, Blake Bray, and Payton Bray; and his mother Flossie Birmingham. Michael was preceded in death by his father Raymond Birmingham and step-father Robert “Bud” Hawkins. Michael was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and son. Always serving others with a heart and soul that knew and trusted his Lord and Savior, his loss will leave a place in the hearts and lives of family and friends no one else can fill. However, he leaves a collection of memories and precious times we shared, true keepsakes of our hearts that will remain forever Cemetery: A private family committal service at the Bourbeuse River, near St. Clair, Missouri, will take place at a later time.
