Merna Margaret (Tipton) Poore passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville, Kansas at the age of 83. She was born on February 20, 1931 in Flint Michigan to Leo and Abigail (Green) Tipton. In her teens the family moved to Zurich, Kansas to the Tipton farm and soon afterward moved to Stockton, Kansas where her parents owned and operated Tip’s caf?. Merna attended Stockton High School graduating in 1949. Merna was united in marriage to Haroldean “Rip” Poore on December 28, 1949 in Stockton where they made their lifelong home. They were blessed with four children, Linda, Kathy, Connie, and Patrick. Merna was a dedicated mother, grandmother and homemaker. In Merna’s lifetime she enjoyed sewing, knitting, doll making and a variety of crafts. She loved playing dominos with all of her family, but especially her grandchildren. But most of all she enjoyed shopping, especially with her best friend, Shirley. She always looked forward to visits from family members and friends stopping by for coffee. She also enjoyed traveling with Rip to Patrick’s games and grandchildren’s activities. She took great pride in her children’s careers and was an avid fan of the teams Patrick coached. Merna was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Stockton, St. Thomas Altar Society, Zeta Mu Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority, and the VFW Auxiliary. Survivors include her daughters, Linda Look and husband Lawrence of Quinter, Kathy Dix and husband Frank and Connie Jenkins and husband Don all of Stockton; son, Patrick Poore and wife Gwen of Blaine, Minnesota; sister, Patricia Hansen and husband Wallace of Goodland; sister-in-law, Lupe Tipton of Victoria, Texas; grandchildren, Tara Cox (Chuck), Tad Look (Stephanie), Trey Look (Cassie), Tim Bouchey (Karen), Richard Bouchey, Damion Dix (LeAnn), Calvin Dix, Miranda Hardenburger (Travis), Tessie Edwards (Travis), Travis Jenkins (Janae), Trevor Poore, and Taylor Poore; great-grandchildren, Ethan & Camdyn Cox, Finnley Look, Evie & Nash Look, Blake & Brady Bouchey, Tori & Cole Bouchey, Olivia, Ava & Addison Dix, Peyton Hardenburger, Tanner, Tenley & Tyler Edwards, and Gentry Jenkins. Merna was preceded in death by her parents, Leo & Abigail Tipton; husband, Haroldean; brothers, Robert & Wayne Tipton; sisters, Delores Mangold, Edna Stice & infant Anna Louise Tipton; and son-in-law, Alan Bouchey. Merna was greatly loved and will be greatly missed, but we rejoice with the angels of heaven as she hears the words, “Well done good and faithful servant.” We look forward to the time we will see her again and walk together the streets of gold with our Lord.
