Mary Sue Pulec

March 20, 1943 — March 4, 2014

Mary Sue Pulec passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas at the age of 70. She was born March 20, 1943 to Henry and Laura (Stultz) Kollman in Woodston, Kansas. Mary graduated from Woodston High School with the Class of 1961 and then went on to Denver Business College where she earned an Associate’s Degree. On April 26, 1973, she married Melvin Pulec in Rooks County, Kansas. Together, they raised six daughters, Brenda, Sherry, Melva, Heather, Jessica, and Melinda. Mary was always a hardworking and humble woman. Under her quiet demeanor was a strong woman who was the support to her family. She worked for the Stockton Chamber of Commerce and cooked at the K&V Caf?, but most importantly, she raised a family. Being a true country girl at heart, Mary enjoyed hearing the “popping” sound of an old John Deere tractor. She loved going to garage sales and auctions, always looking for unique gifts for her girls. She was a great wife, mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor who always greeted everyone with her big loving smile. Mary is survived by her six daughters, Brenda Brady of Stockton, Sherry Pulec of Stockton, Melva Pulec of Cambria, WI, Heather Pulec of Stockton, Jessica Pulec of Tucson, AZ, and Melinda Pulec of Tucson, AZ; one brother, Mark Kollman of Woodston; two sisters, Patricia Middleton of West Virginia, and Joan Northup of Salina; six grandchildren, Sarah Crosby, Michael Brady, Laura Kearns, Megan Kearns, Katie Kearns, and Ziva Ulbrich; and one great-grandson, Jason Bransgrove; and of course, Shadow, the dog. She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Laura Kollman; brother, Louis “Mike” Kollman; and her husband, Melvin Pulec on October 27, 2008. Mary’s life, love, and legacy will live on in the hearts and lives of not only her children, but all who knew her. Always ready to support and encourage others with a heart that was so true and tender. Mary devoted her life to those she loved, and those she loved will never forget her.
