Mary Ellen Stoppel

Mary Ellen Stoppel of Wilson, Kansas passed away April 7, 2022 in Dalhart, Texas at the age of 88. She was born in Hays, KS to Michael & Gertrude (Baumrucker) Jacobs. Mary Ellen resided in Wilson where she taught school in the area for 36 years. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, D of I, Delta Kappa Gamma and served on several community boards. She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia (Tim) Zielke and Brenda (Steve) Hadley; sister, Alice Marie (Everett) Schrant; five grandchildren: Chris (Kacie), Sara (Henry), Brandon (Nicole), Bryant (Chelsea), Bruce (Trish); eight great-grandchildren: Dorman, Kady, Ryan, Michael, Johnathan, Elias, Harper, River; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Parish Vigil will be held at 9:30 am, April 12, 2022, and the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am both at St. Wenceslaus Church. Burial will follow at the Wilson Cemetery. Visitation on Monday 2:00 pm until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Wenceslaus Church or Wilson Sr. Center and may be sent in care of Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, PO Box 533, Wilson, Kansas 67490.
