Marvin grew up in Kensington, Kansas, and graduated from Kensington High School in 1961. He went on to earn his master’s degree in counseling and vocational agriculture from Kansas State University in 1970.
He dedicated his life to education, beginning as a vocational agriculture teacher in Morrowville and Mankato, Kansas, before serving as a guidance counselor at Plainville High School until his retirement in 1998. Known for his steady presence, compassion, and genuine care for others, Marvin influenced the lives of many students and colleagues.
Marvin found joy in simple things—long walks, singing, and meeting new people. He never knew a stranger and had a gift for making others feel welcome and valued. He was active in his church community and devoted many years to serving others through prison ministry at Ellsworth Correctional Facility. He also enjoyed farming and spent time consulting as an antique appraiser.
He married Jackie in 1967, and together they had three children: Sherri, Kara, and Mark.
Survivors include his children, Kara (Paul) Kuder and Mark (Staci) Mann; his former wife, Jackie Mann; his sister, Joyce (Darold) Grauerholz; his grandchildren, Noah (Alicia) Kuder and Hannah Kuder; and his son-in-law, Sean Stanford. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Sherri (Mann) Standford.
