Marlyn D. “Chief” Steinle passed away August 16, 2014 at the Golden Living Center of Wilson in Wilson, Kansas at the age of 78. He was born August 23, 1935 in Russell County, Kansas to Daniel W. and Marie (Heinze) Steinle. Chief was a veteran of the United States Army. On May 29, 1965 he married the love of his life, Vickie Dumler in Dorrance, Kansas. To this union were born four boys, Brent, Brian, Todd, and Kendall. In 1998 Chief retired from the Russell County Highway Department, but over the years worked for AGCO driving a tank wagon, and in the oil field as a pumper for AJ and E. He had a special place in his heart for cats. One of his last instructions was, “Be sure and feed the kids.” But above all else, Chief loved his family. Nobody was more special than his grandchildren. He loved spending time with them and lovingly passing along his wit and wisdom. He loved greatly, and was greatly loved. Chief is survived by his wife Vickie of the home; sons Brent D. Steinle and wife Kim of Lucas, Brian L. Steinle and wife Tami of Lucas, Todd D. Steinle and wife Lori of Wilson, and Kendall D. Steinle of Dorrance; brother Francis D. Steinle of McPherson; and eleven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Daniel and Marie, two brothers Jerry and Jimmy, and one granddaughter Sara Ann Steinle. Chief was known for doing everything on a schedule. And like the writer of Ecclesiastes, he knew there was a time for everything, and everything in its time. So while it is time to mourn the loss of a great man, it is also time to laugh and remember with great joy, the impact of his life and love for generations to come.
