Marjorie J. Martin, age 89, of Plainville, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2011 at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville. She was born August 31, 1921 in Stafford, Kansas the daughter of Will E. and Anna G. (Jordan) Young. Marjorie grew up in the Stafford area graduating from the Stafford High School. On September 19, 1948, Marjorie married James H. “Jim” Martin in Stafford. They lived in Saint John, Holyrood and Russell before moving to Plainville. Marjorie was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Plainville. She was a homemaker and mom and also worked for the C.O. Mammals Grocery Store in Plainville as a checker. She spent her last years as a resident of the Red Bud Village Court in Plainville. She was a born again Christian and dearly loved the Lord. She witnessed to anyone she met. Survivors include her daughter Anita & husband Robert Smith of Everman, Texas; son William “Bill” and wife Sue of Orlando, Florida; sister Katherine Corwin of Plainville; 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Jim, her husband of over 44 years; 2 brothers, John and Joseph; and 2 sisters, Dorothy Brixey and Charlotte Deschner. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday January 29, 2011 at the First Southern Baptist Church, Plainville with Pastor Todd Bohrer officiating. Graveside services with the family sharing memories and thoughts will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the Alden Valley Cemetery near Alden, Kansas. Visitation will be from 5-8 Thursday, 9-8 Friday, with the family receiving friends from 6-8:30 Friday evening at the funeral chapel and from 9:30 to service time Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Southern Baptist Church and may be sent in care of the Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel, 409 S. Cochran, Plainville, Kansas 67663.
