Marilyn Dunning passed away Tuesday morning, February 9, 2016 at the Redbud Village Nursing Home in Plainville, Kansas at the age of 79. She was born May 14, 1936 in Stockton, Kansas to the late Jesse and Ina (Livingston) Hunter. After graduating from Stockton High School in May of 1954, she married the love of her life Duane Dunning on November 6, 1954 in Stockton. The couple was blessed with two children, son, Steve and daughter, Vicki Gile. Marilyn loved being a housewife and mother, her family was her life. She always looked forward to the days when all of her children and grandchildren gathered at her home as she loved to cook for them and spend the day visiting with them. She and Duane loved to square dance and were part of the Swinging Wheels Square Dance Club. They met many of their life-long friends through the club and enjoyed many vacations together, making many memories. She also enjoyed playing cards: bridge, pinochle and canasta, with family and friends. She was a passionate gardener, growing flowers of all kinds; and a seamstress, sewing clothes for her family and all of her square dance outfits. She went to work outside the home when her children were nearing college, as a secretary for Farm Implement & Supply, retiring after 24 years in 1997. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Plainville. Marilyn is survived by her husband, Duane of the home in Plainville; son Steve and wife Cheryl of Leawood, Kansas; daughter Vicki and husband Gene Gile of Garden City, Kansas; brother Earl and wife Judy Hunter of Great Bend; sister Janet and husband Jim Bouchey of Glade; brother-in-law Doug Camp of Sandovel, Illinois; grandchildren, Jessi Hrabe, Jay and wife Kelly Hrabe all of Plainville; Caroline and husband David Clemmensen, Anne and husband Bobby Pitts, and Hunter Dunning all of Kansas City; great-grandchildren, Jersey and Cohen Kaiser, Zayne and Lainee Stahl, and Devon Mick all of Plainville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Ina Hunter, and her sister, Christine Camp. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the Plainville United Methodist Church with burial following at the Plainville Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, February 19, 2016 from 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home with family receiving friends from 6:00-7:30. It is written that a wife of noble character is rare, and worth more than all earthly riches. Marilyn was not only a wife of noble character, but a mother and grandmother as well. Indeed, she acted with love and spoke with wisdom. Her family and friends alike say she was a blessing, now and for generations to come. Reception: Plainville United Methodist Church
