Marilyn Lyn (Garber) Cunningham passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville, Kansas at the age of 82. She was born on June 22, 1932 in Manhattan, Kansas to Earl “Spin” and Dorothy (Marshall) Garber. She graduated from Stockton High School with the Class of 1950 and went on to attend Brown Macke School of Business. On May 20, 1952 Marilyn was united in marriage to Darrell O. “J.R.” Cunningham in Stockton, Kansas. To this union was born one son, Douglas Wayne. Marilyn worked as a bookkeeper for Rip’s Conoco and then went to work for the Stockton National Bank, retiring after 31 years. Marilyn was an avid reader, spending much of her leisure time reading as well as being proficient at working crossword puzzles and crafting Christmas egg decorations. She was also a lover of animals and supported various animal charities. She was a past member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority and a current member of the VFW Auxiliary. Survivors include her son Douglas Wayne Cunningham of Stockton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law DeVane and Ellen Cunningham of Stockton, and Don and Jane Cunningham of Stockton; nieces and nephews Denise Hurd of Houston, TX, Jan Cunningham of Savannah, GA, Dana Cunningham of Hays, and Shaun Cunningham of Junction City; and honorary grandchildren Tara, Tracy, and Trina Cikanek. She was preceded in death by her parents Earl “Spin” and Dorothy Garber, and her husband Darrell O. “J.R.” Cunningham. Marilyn was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. She was a hardworking loving woman who leaves sweet memories in the hearts and minds of all who knew her. Reception: A full obituary will appear soon.
