Margie Laree (Stull) Roberts, 85, formerly of Palco, KS and most recently of Braidwood, IL died August 14, 2011 at Joliet Area Community Hospice, Joliet, IL. She was born January 31, 1926 in Palco, KS as the eldest daughter of Forrest and Zeta (Desbien) Stull. She graduated from Palco High School in the class of 1944. She then attended Fort Hays College, majoring in education. She taught in the one-room classroom of Stone School for the 1945-46 school year. She then attended beauty school in Emporia, KS in the fall of 1946. On Dec. 26, 1946 Margie married Arthur J. Roberts at St. Joseph’s Church of Damar, KS. Art passed away March 7, 2001. She was a devoted homemaker, skilled in cooking, sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She also was a talented oil painter and loved genealogy. She was the Palco City Clerk and Librarian for many years. She was also the driving force behind the Palco Centennial book which was published in 1988 for their Centennial celebration. She was a member of St. Ann’s Church of Zurich, then Sacred Heart Church of Plainville. She is survived by her four sons: Gale, Braidwood, IL; Dale, Joliet, IL; Mark, Lakin, KS; and Vance, Farmington, NM. Other survivors include six grandsons: Brandon, David, Mack, Art, Joel, Paul and four great-grandchildren: Tyler, Harper, Riley, Ashlyn. She is survived by two sisters: Delora Teasley of Stockton, KS and Karen Bell of Dresden, KS. Her Aunt Peach Crane, Nampa, Indiana also survives. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Janice Louise Roberts, her husband Art, and by her parents. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel. A Parish Vigil Service will be Thursday, August 18 at 7:00 p.m. at the Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel in Plainville. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, August 19 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville with Father Galen Long as Celebrant. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery near Palco. Memorials are suggested to the charity of your choice and may be sent in care of the Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel, 409 S.
