Margaret “Tissie” Houser, 91, of Plainville, Kansas, was born February 29, 1920, to Harry T. and Anna (Noster), Hain at Rush County, Kansas. She passed away Saturday, December 10, 2011 at the Redbud Village in Plainville. Margaret attended school in LaCrosse and graduated with the class of 1938. Margaret married Harold Houser on Jan. 18, 1939 in Hutchinson, Kansas, and to this union were two children born, Thomas and Susan. Margaret worked alongside her husband Harold in their bakeries in Stockton and Plainville. She later opened up Houser Antiques in Plainville. Margaret loved history, and was known as the town historian. She wrote many books on Plainville, Hays and LaCrosse History. The ghost books she wrote were about friends and families that spoke of ghost’s in their homes. She was a past member of the ESA Sorority, Rookies Camping Club with her husband, and very active in the Girl Scouts of America in Plainville. She is survived by one son, Thomas Houser and wife Barbara of Plainville, Kansas; one daughter, Susan Goetz and husband Jim of Hiawatha, Iowa; one sister, Betty Stejskal of Hesston, Kansas; eight grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren. Margaret is preceded in death by her parents; husband Harold; one brother, Alfred Turner; and a sister, Mildred Little. Graveside services are planned for Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in the LaCrosse Cemetery in LaCrosse, Kansas with father Pascal Klein officiating. Visitation will be Monday, December 12, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. through 8:00 p.m. at Moore Overlease Funeral Chapel in Plainville. The family will receive friends from 6pm-7pm Memorials are suggested to Redbud Village or Plainville Ambulance Service and may be sent in care of Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel, 409 S.
