Lucille Katheryn Hesterberg passed away Saturday evening, March 23, 2013 at the Sheridan County Health Complex in Hoxie at the age of 92. She was born February 1, 1921 to Ernest and Sophie (Friederich) Wasserman in Bremen, Kansas. As a young girl Lucille attended school in Hoxie. She was united in marriage to Oscar Hesterberg on March 30, 1942 at Colby. She worked for the Ben Franklin Store in Hoxie for many years before going to work for the First National Bank in Hoxie where she was a teller for 30 years. Lucille and Oscar didn’t have any children of their own but considered all their nieces and nephews their own. As young children they could not pronounce her name, so they would call her “Aunt Cille”. She so loved all the time they spent together. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting and gardening. Lucille was a faithful member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. She is survived by her sister Edna Niermeier and all her nieces and nephews. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Sophia Wasserman; her husband Oscar on July 4, 1980; brother and sister-in-law, Gilbert and Edith Wasserman; sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Loyal Packer; and brother-in-law, Herman Niermeier.
