Loren Eugene “Gene” Breckenridge died Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at Eaglecrest Retirement Community in Salina, Kansas at the age of 85. Gene was born September 17, 1927 in Alton to Loren C. and Areta M. (Dibble) Breckenridge. Gene attended school in Woodston and graduated from Woodston Rural High School with the class of 1945. After graduation he served in the United States Army and United States Air Force. In the Air Force he was a Staff Sgt. and an Aircraft Electrical Instructor. After returning home from the military he worked with his father farming and later worked for the Rooks County Highway Department as a truck driver. He was united in marriage to Neola Mae Griffin on August 13, 1950. They spent fifty-four years together before her passing on September 29, 2004. Gene was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Plainville for many years. He was an avid gun collector and member of the N.R.A. He will be forever cherished by his daughters, Susan Lanphear of Bakersfield, California and Ericka Werling and husband John of Solomon, Kansas; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, June Cornwell of St. John, Kansas and Patsy Noble and husband Eugene of Castle Rock, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his wife and son, Michael Breckenridge. Service: The Service will be located at the First Lutheran Church in Plainville Monday, October 1st, 2012, 2:00pm
