Lois Ann Thyfault was born July 1, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan, to Willis and Olive (Brown) Buchbinder. She passed away Sunday, January 29, 2012 in Dermott, Arkansas at the age of 78. Lois attended school in Michigan and graduated from the University of Michigan. She went on to get her Master’s in education from Wayne State University. She was a Guidance Counselor and Elementary School Teacher for many years. She was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. She was an accomplished figure skater and avid tennis enthusiast. Lois was active in the community with Cub Scouts, Brownies and various charities. Lois is survived by her children, Charles Thyfault and wife Mary Susan, Greg Thyfault, and Dione Ellice Cortez and husband Max all of Barrington, Illinois; six grandchildren, Bradley, Brian, and Annie Thyfault and Benjamin, Sophia and Jonathan Cortez. Other survivors include Lois’s sister, Joan Hall of Wake Forrest, NC. Lois’s parents, Willis and Olive; and sister, Kay Buchbinder, preceded her in death. Funeral services are planned for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2012 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Stockton with Father Galen Long officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, February 3, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home with a parish vigil being said at 7:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Solomon Valley Manor and may be sent in care of Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home, 723 N.
